Don Quixote

The ballet based on Miguel de Cervantes’ novel, Don Quixote is a romantic comedy that tells the story of a knight-errant, and his squire Sancho Panza on their quest to find the beautiful Dulcinea. The ballet is known for its Spanish setting, castanets, and a donkey.

A one-hour long adaptation of the full-length ballet base on the famous novel Don Quixote de la Mancha by Miguel De Cervantes. Mr. De Cervantes was a Spanish Novelist, poet, and playwright. Don Quixote de la Mancha is considered the first modern European novel and is a classic of Wester literature, regarded amongst the best works of fiction ever written. The ballet was originally choreographed by Marius Petipa to the music of Ludwig Minkus and was first presented by the Ballet of the Imperial Bolshoi Theatre of Moscow, Russia. The ballet lived on in Russia well after the revolution of 1917, whereas many other ballets ceased to be performed into the Soviet period and became part of the permanent repertoire of the Moscow Bolshoi Theatre.
